really, I had no other choice

I was remembering the other day when I was having my fabric shortage troubles, that the reason I started making toys was because of the nature of my fabric collection. I’d been thrifting fabric for years for my vintage clothing shop and had amassed a collection of cute but unruly fabric…scraps, pieces cut out from clothes, aprons and scarfs, sheets and pillowcases, just a lot of bits and pieces. So when I sat down to make things for baby Oscar … More

stuff I made to wear

I tried to model these but had no one to take the pictures so all I have to show for it are lots of blurry photos of my outstretched arm, the corner of my head, my dresser and dirty laundry heap in the background. Good stuff like that. So here they lie…

New Look 6871 made with some glittery plaid from Vogue fabrics. I like it. Good pattern. Needed to make a smaller size but still definitely a go-to shirt. … More

apples are for teachers

As are hokey, but made with love, handmade gifts from the class. When trying to think of something to make for our beloved kindergarten teacher my light bulb went off on wanting something that looks like a normal thing from one side an has the gooey sentimental underbelly on the other side. Of this was born the apple pillow…

One side is cool japanese import fabric I had in my stash with the ubiquitous apples. The other side is the … More

scenes from the craft room

We’re gripped in end of school frenzy over here, as I imagine most everyone is. I’ve popped in to say that I sent an email out to the mailing list but it did not send. Another computer dilemma needing to be fixed. Love those. Anyhoo, the news of the day… there is another batch of Super X-Stitchettes in the shop.
