if you happen to have a lollipop in your pocket

I received my mary not martha order last week and was able to make this pretty dang cute flowery headband for Phoebe. I kept the flowers in a bunch and twisted their wire stems around a plastic headband. I clipped off the stems, bent the sharp edges up away from the head and then doused the thing in tacky glue and waited 2 days for it to completely dry. It’s probably not all that secure but for the 2 seconds … More

look who is sitting next to each other

just plunked my new (old) orla kiely bag down on the table by my o.k. target mug. makes me so happy! I bought the bag on ebay about a month ago and oh how I love it. I justified it by saying I’ll never need another bag again and I might be right. I don’t think my love for it will ever waver.

also on the table, dmc floss colors for the cross stitch patterns. I’ll tell you what’s a … More

bend it!

I’ve been waiting waiting waiting for Amy Karol’s new book to come out and it’s finally here! Bend the Rules with Fabric!

I long ago determined that Amy knows everything. And at least once a day I wish I had Amy sitting in my craft room so I could ask her my many annoying questions… should I do it like this? how does that work? why in the heck won’t this turn out? Now I have her right here, … More

you put your ribbon in there

I thought I blogged this and just realized I hadn’t. I came up with a plan for the sewing box.. ribbons! I never know what to do with my ribbons. They were stored in these plastic craft drawer things inside my fabric closet and I could never quite open the drawers so the only ribbons that saw any play were those right at the edge. Now they can fold out in front of me in all their splendor. When the … More

hello august

I can barely force myself to say it, but I think I’m pretty much… done! My manuscript is turned in and although there are a few things outstanding and there will be more work down the line, I’m calling it. DONE! It’s taken me about 3 days to be able to even utter the words. My shoulders are slowly sinking back down, my brow is unfurrowing, my head is clearing and I feel my self creeping back into place. I’m … More

new book

Dear ISBN978-4-529-04700-5,

I love you and hate you. Why did you come now? I ordered you like 2 months ago and you decide to show up on my doorstep right when I haven't a free minute to sew.

Don't you know how vulnerable I am right now to gorgeous book design? Are you trying to make me cry?

And why don't you have at least one sucky pattern. There's not one single 'pass' in your whole book.

And man, you … More

fq’s and a boy!

When Kristin at Sew Mama Sew asked me to do a fat quarter pack for them I was so so excited. I’ve realized that this just might be my favorite thing to do – putting together piles of fabric! Of course this is a virtual pile but it was just as fun. I so love making project piles… picking colors, matching up prints, imagining how it’ll all go together. I think I may need to revise my career goals with … More
