start practicing your split stitch!

I hope I’m not the only one feeling embroidery-y this Summer. We’re taking a tiny mini break from work on the patternbooks to make the embroidery patterns available for sale. Sometime soon (hopefully this week!) Sam, Ruby, Tilly and Anna will be up in the shop as a set. Throw your name on the mailing list if you’d like to be notified when. If there is enough interest I’d love to do some new designs in the Fall. I’m thinking books, leaves, sweaters, etc. sigh…Fall.

Not that I’m already over Summer but I did get a little sun-smacked this morning at the zoo. Sometimes I really want to be the 2 year old standing directly over the gushing water jets instead of the adult watching.

I want this wall

Check out this page from another favorite library book of mine, Collecting American Country.

A wall of antique doll quilts. I love it! I love the idea of making a slew of delicate, small scale, possibly even handsewn, geometric quilts and then arranging them as one big work of art on the wall. Problem is I have no blank walls. I may have to start on one anyway.

summer fun

If I lived in a lemonade commercial this is how I’d be spending my summer.

I haven’t sewn up and stuffed these last two embroidered dolls yet. I may have a little something up my sleeve for them.

Susannah

Susannah, such a cute name! But can you say it without singing Oh Susannah? Try it. I can’t. And can you write about her without saying something cheesy like…Don’t you cry for her, she’s having a lovely day in the park!

She’s enjoying her new mail treats. A cute sketch book with matching pencil (awesome!) from Alison & Nicole and a new Milly Molly Mandy book (woohoo!) from Sarah

Maggierama

Oh dear. The cutest little puppy has come to live with us. One of Oscar and our favorite author/illustrators is Maggie Smith. We have two of her books now (Paisley and Dear Daisy Get Well Soon) and love them. Both have secret life of toys themes which are very big around here. So when I saw that she has a new etsy shop carrying her original toy designs I jumped. Please meet Frankie dog..

We are all so in love with this adorable puppy. He’s the cutest thing, made from a great vintage print and so unbelievably well made. All of Maggie’s toys are so so cute. Look at these ears! and this nose! and this tail! I think we definitely need another one…

I know I mentioned other plans for today’s post but I’ve been drawn off track by beautiful weather, fun mail and maybe some online shopping. shhh..

and these ears!
