what’s new?

Lots of stuff! New site design & a new header (click on through and check it out), we’re now 3 columned and have a new list, “what we’re reading” that I’m going to try to update every few weeks. Also new is our logo! Our logo font was getting a bit over used so Tim made us one from scratch. It’s got a swoosh and everything! Also new, like I mentioned below are our new etsy shop and craft it up stickers and the main reason we wanted to start an etsy, a new doll design. I’ve been wanting forever to sell dolls again, in addition to patterns, and what better place to sell one of a kind originals than etsy. So if this CPSIA business gets sorted out I hope to have the shop stocked with this gal and her friends.

1958 is our year

I bought Tim this calendar towel to hang in our kitchen. ’58 is our year. Our house was built in 1958. Then we started noticing that more often than not when we buy something old off ebay or at the thrift store or whatever it’s from 1958. Evidently that was our year, even if we weren’t around to see it.

inspiring me: new books

Santa brought us some wonderful new childrens books that I’ve been wanting to post for a while now. I’m going to start a list of favorites over on our new second sidebar, which is in the works. Here are some now while I wait…

When You Were Small is one of our all time favorites so I was so excited to get Where You Came From for Oscar this year and it does not disappoint. It’s so cute and clever and Julie Morstad’s illustrations are just gorgeous.

Mix and Match Animals by Mique Moriuchi is so fuzzy and so so cute! Phoebe loves it. She’s obsessed with all the fuzzy feely flippy types of books. We both love flipping through to find our favorite animals mixes. And I so want to make a bippy or a squitten.

And lastly for today, these books by Utaka Yamada, who btw designs adorable fabric for Kokka, were a gift from Santa Julia. They’re killing me with their cute. Thanks Julia! We love any excuse to use our fake french accents.

take that wii

We're on an unscheduled second winter break over here. Two too cold for school days last week and a holiday and teacher's day this week and we're back in holiday mode. Oscar was showing some disturbing wii addiction symptoms so Tim pulled out this game that used to keep him entertained in his youth, rah rah monsters. These poor little guys are in constant peril, mostly from tanks. Oscar's been huddled on the floor, sharpie in hand for two days now. He's head to toe in marker and black stamp pad ink but he's the calmest and happiest I've seen him in weeks.

And as an added benefit, we finally get a turn.
