I don't know where I would be without my trusty sidekick. Probably photographing a stack of fo's instead of scrounging around desperately for a photo for my blog. what? no! She's very helpful. As all 2 1/2 year olds are. Without her to keep me on my toes how would I know to get down that fabric for sewing on the toy machine. NO! not that fabric, that fabric! And Buttons! and glue! YES glue!!
ya got me
winter managed to squeeze in one last round of sick for the family. I can't really complain since we got off so easy this year but whatever crazed head-squashing germ you are… please get out of my head. if only the sun were here to chase you away.
best mascot ever!
Look who came in the mail yesterday!! Quatchi! The cutest Olympics mascot ever. We are huge Meomi fans over here and we were so excited to see the whole gang of supercuties they designed for the games. I want them all! This guy we ordered here and, although with shipping from Canada he wasn't cheap, he was worth every penny. He's so soft and adorable and perfect. Everyone in the family is fighting for their turn for a Quatchi snuggle.
teresa, what do you think?
(I sometimes like to test my friends to see if they are actually reading my blog)
so teresa, if you're out there, what do you think of this pile for gg's quilt? not baby enough? maybe something brighter?
pattern
As promised, here are some pics from the cool japanese fashion magazine I picked up, the february issue of SO-EN. The issue seems to be all about pattern and is entitled Textile File 2010. I’ll be pouring over this magazine for a long time. So much to absorb.
The first section is “minä perhonen textile journey” and it’s amazing. This is a new designer to me. Internet you’ve been holding out on me! Guess I’m falling behind in my design blog reading, here. And here’s the site, minä perhonen.
and so so much more. and I still have another magazine I haven’t cracked open yet. now to just find some magazine time.
geometric
I’m feeling the angular these days. I think I want to try something pojagi-esque for my craft room window. I’ve been reading more about it here.
being very inspired by:
elisabeth’s swedish patchwork book
jen’s photos of pojagi quilts from the quilt show, here and here
and images from the library books I have out now
for the backapackas
If I had a superhero power today it would be to create more time. I
barely had time to shoddily (sorry jen! I should have let you do it)
finish these up and now it’s time to pick up Phoebe. I keep thinking it’s lack of inspiration that’s stalling me out, but honestly, I think it’s the lack of free time to dig into a project.
I have some good inspiration pics to share later this week. Planning is better than nothing.
