ruffle gal

Phew! Party’s over. I’ll share some project pics later. Once again, I was over ambitious. I think my parent helpers wanted to strangle me. One of these days I’ll figure out age and time appropriate party activities!

Phoebe and I crafted it up this morning while the boys were at Tron. Lots to share. First, this crazy gal…

I hot glued some ruffled trim to floral wire and then glued to a wood ball for the head. I didn’t have the right size styrofoam ball so had to go with wood. I stuck a tack in her head to hang the string. Here’s the inspiration. Cute huh! I love these old 50s Christmas magazines.

decked

I love the holiday house. We put everything up the weekend after Thanksgiving so it’s up for as long as possible. We’re pretty much at capacity in our tiny ranch house but a few new things squeezed in this year. I fell in love with this super glittery snowman and couldn’t resist.

And this is my new ornament this year, from Martha Stewart for Macys. Peppermint baby!

And here are some of the usual suspects.

oh! and here are all the alicia ornaments I finished. Did I show these? I put stuff up on flickr and forget to blog it. I have one more to photograph, the red coat. It turned out sooo cute! That one is mine because I have an identical red coat *and* mittens on a string. It was meant to be. Mom got this bear, the mitten and the ice skate. Phoebe the cocoa mug, Oscar the deer and Tim’s is still to come. What’ll it be mister? tree or cottage?

Book Club Stitchettes in the shop

I always do as the librarian tells me and I had a few librarians asking for this pattern in the shop so… here it is! This is the first set of the Book Club Stitchettes, 3 designs. I have stetches for 2 or 3 more sets of three and then a plan for a quilt with all of them. I’ll be adding them to the shop as I finish them. It’s going to take some will power to wait to use these for the quilt because I think they’d make really cute Christmas gifts for the little readers in my life and they’re sitting here all nice and finished. It’d be so easy to sew one onto a tote bag for a sweet little book bag or sew one up as a pillow for the reading nook or even to just hang by the bookshelves. I know I’ll end up making a deal with myself – oh I’ll just stitch up another set – and then it’ll be the months long delay that’ll keep me from finishing the quilt. I’m going to have to hide these away!
