The thing I really want to make these days is the one thing I really hate making, doll clothes. Phoebe is finally getting into her dolls more and I want to make her loads of outfits to play with. But fiddly little doll clothes make me nuts! Doesn’t help that my old sewing machine seems to have only two speeds now, off or chomping through fabric. All the pesky finishing that clothing requires on a teeny tiny scale is too much for this clunker. I’m wondering if maybe I just tackle this all by hand. I have one kooky dress made that I’ll show tomorrow. In the meantime Phoebe is having fun with the doll clothes I’ve been stashing away for years. Everyone got new outfits this afternoon.
little red
Finished this gal up tonight. She’s a commission for a friend. The hair is this fun yarn I found at Joanns.
Phoebe’s new doll
I made this doll for Phoebe this week. Very inspired by the Hilda Cowham illustrations from last week. I really want this book!
Next I think I’m going to try to make her a blackberry fairy doll. These mop tops remind me of Phoebe.
illustrated by Esther Friend
So cute! Love her style and those sweet faces. I think I have more books by her. I’ll have to dig them out.
pretty
Leaves from walking O to school and fabric from Quilt Merchant.
I really need to go to a yarn store. It's fall and I have no new yarn.
(Carol and Ellie are you reading? We should meet at that yarn shop that was in St. Charles then moved to Geneva then back to St. Charles.)
trying to make decisions
I started this blog because I was home with my baby, making stuff and wanted to hang out with other makers and chat. The longer I do this blog the more and more I do in "secret", on my own, by myself. I thought the book was going to be super collaborative but instead it was just me doing my part and then handing it off to others to do their parts. I want to go, out of my house, to one of those jobs with huge carousels of markers and talk to people about my ideas. I think I'm just feeling sorry for myself because I'm stuck on this design. I need someone to say yes to this and no to that.
farm folks
I have my framed farm folks x-stitchettes just sitting in a pile in my craft room. I thought I'd put them out for a little seasonal flair.
