sketches

I’ve got Land of Nod files open today. I love these little drawings of the dolls. I have two projects to finish up for them this week and then the Christmas crafting will commence! Can’t wait! I need to get on pinterest and start collecting ideas. What cute things are out there today?

one tree up

We put up our little artificial tree with the handmade ornaments this weekend. I was smart last year and organized the Christmas decorations so we could do it in phases this year. Next weekend we'll get our real tree or maybe I'll even wait one more week. Last year we had to take it down right after Christmas because it was so crunchy. It'd be nice to make it to the new year this time around.

Hand Sewing for Fun Patterncards are now PDF!

It’s that time again. Time to start thinking about handmade holiday gifts. I’ve started my list. How about you guys? I’m less ambitious these days but I still love to make a little something here or there. I mostly make ornaments. I love hand sewing projects, especially working with felt. It’s the perfect project for curled up on the sofa in front of the tv in this gloomy November weather. To that end, we are happy to say that we FINALLY made the Hand Sewing for Fun Patterncards (including the sold out Butterfly & Snail) into PDF patterns available in the shop!! Here’s the link, scroll to bottom of the page.

Wool felt is so wonderful to work with and with just one simple stitch you can make any of these guys. I think that’s why I find it so relaxing. It’s like knitting an all garter stitch scarf.

This turtle is Oscar’s favorite. He’s taken it to bed with him and his other buddies for years now. I have to sew the feet back on every once in a while overall he’s really held up.

Looking at these guys now, I’m inspired to try to make them as Christmas bunnies. They’d be cute ornaments!

I made something I pinned

Actually.. yesterday I made two things I’ve pinned! This cutey felt hair acessory to match Phoebe’s day-after-Halloween outfit (I think she has now worn all 5 of her handed down Halloween tops!) is from craftiness is not optional, here. I think I’ll make that rolled felt flower too, so cute and easy.

And I made these cupcakes for Oscar’s class. From BHG, here.

Hope everyone had a great Halloween!! That one two punch of class parties right into trick or treating wipes me out every year. But it is blast for the kids. Here are my trick or treaters, Mad Scientist and Witch
