it’s this pattern here, with a pom, knit in saphira yarn. I know it’s an adult pattern but I think my yarn wasn’t as bulky so it seems to have worked out okay. it’s sort of a slouchy beret thing on Phoebe instead of a more fitted hat like it’s supposed to be. I wish someone would write a knitting pattern book of all hat patterns for kids done in bulky yarns. that’s all I ever want to … More

butterfly shirt applique
“mine butterfy shirt” along with “mine simming googles”. Wish you could see the model in action. She’s too much! Here’s the face I get when I ask for a smile.
I love the idea of embroidering on shirts. Though next time I’m going to be patient and pick up some stabilizer at the store first. So another top embellished and I think I’m warmed up for some actual sewing. I might try a dress for Phoebe this weekend. Or! I … More

Phoebe’s baby clothes quilt!
A year or so late, here is Phoebe’s baby clothes quilt. Actually I’m not even going to say it’s late. I’m very proud of myself. We all know how keepsake projects can sort of drag on — burning all the video onto cds, finishing baby books, filling albums, etc. I’m pleased as punch to have finished one of my baby memento projects.

Nothing more invigorating than finishing something.
This puppy is for Phoebe and it’s in a favorite color scheme of mine, … More

I thought I blogged this and just realized I hadn’t. I came up with a plan for the sewing box.. ribbons! I never know what to do with my ribbons. They were stored in these plastic craft drawer things inside my fabric closet and I could never quite open the drawers so the only ribbons that saw any play were those right at the edge. Now they can fold out in front of me in all their splendor. When the … More
hello august
I can barely force myself to say it, but I think I’m pretty much… done! My manuscript is turned in and although there are a few things outstanding and there will be more work down the line, I’m calling it. DONE! It’s taken me about 3 days to be able to even utter the words. My shoulders are slowly sinking back down, my brow is unfurrowing, my head is clearing and I feel my self creeping back into place. I’m … More
