Okay, it’s sticking. Kitten’s name is Moko. Here’s how we ended up introducing them, after about a week of sequestering Moko in the bedroom I put a baby gate across the doorway and opened the door. Didn’t work so well because Moko just kept scaling it and climbing over. So the next day we just brought her into the fold. Hazel was pretty cool about it. Not freaked because she knew there was a kitten on the scene and actually seems sort of into her. They wrestle a lot but no one is getting hurt. Hazel is totally fine with Moko sleeping on her chair and on top of/under her. So they seem acclimated. I hope they’ll be buddies. I’m so glad we did this. I think Hazel was definitely lonely for some kitty camaderie.

My Book
A captivating gang of 24 huggable, lovable creatures to sew—from classics like Margot, a topsy-turvy doll, and the button-jointed teddy bear Bjorn Bjornson, to irresistible Evelyn, a wool felt inchworm decked out in mod glasses and a kerchief, and Koji, a fiercely cute spiked softie monster. There’s something for everyone here—from kids to grown-ups and from beginning sewers to advanced dollmakers. Published by STC Craft, August, 2010.
Aww, that top photo is way too cute!
Cute top photo – but it kind of looks like Moko is going for Hazel’s jugular…
Oh my gosh!!!!!!!!!!!! they are too cute together!!!!
adorable!!
Gah! A kitty bear hug. SO cute! Glad they’re getting along.
Super cute…..with a mischievous glint in her eye!!!!! Hhhmmmmmmm…… I wonder if one of the nicknames will end up being Loco Moko…..
I don’t know if it’s a coincidence or not, but here in NZ a moko is the full-face Maori tattoo, and that cutie-patootie face does kind of look like it might have one! We had a couple of cats when I was a kid who were in exactly the same situation and yes they were friends for the next 20 years 🙂 The only time they would fight was when one was determined to groom the other and the other wasn’t in the mood.
not a coincidence 🙂 that’s why we named her moko
So far looking successful!! And super cute. We lost one of our cats earlier this year and will probably introduce a playmate down the track when the dust settles. Will bear your tricks in mind!
