Phoebe has been into sewing cards lately so I had the idea to make some sewing card ornaments for her to give to family and friends this year. This is our first attempt, mr. snowman. I cut him out of some really nice thick felt I have and then I used a tiny hole puncher to make holes around the edge for her to stitch. I think next I might print some out on cardstock for her to stitch.

My Book
A captivating gang of 24 huggable, lovable creatures to sew—from classics like Margot, a topsy-turvy doll, and the button-jointed teddy bear Bjorn Bjornson, to irresistible Evelyn, a wool felt inchworm decked out in mod glasses and a kerchief, and Koji, a fiercely cute spiked softie monster. There’s something for everyone here—from kids to grown-ups and from beginning sewers to advanced dollmakers. Published by STC Craft, August, 2010.
This is the best idea!
I love this idea- it would be perfect for my daughter. What kind of hole punch would work and where would I buy one? Thanks for the help.

Well-done, Phoebe! I love how it turned out. Great idea!
Wow! Isn’t he beautiful! I have a hand-sewing centre in my kindergarten classroom and it is SO popular…they all go around wearing tiny heart pillow necklaces (a simpler version of your Doxie, which, by the way, I’ll be making with my son this week as gifts for his sisters for Christmas!)
I spent the morning helping my five year old machine sew your little house pillow for her little sister. WOW! What a simple and effective pattern…I’ll blog about it tomorrow if you want to check it out! 🙂
Such a cute idea!
Just precious! Phoebe and the snowman. 🙂
Adorable! What a great idea!
Just purchased!! Thank you. We’re making Christmas stockings out of felt for all of my daughter’s dolls. This will make things much easier! 🙂 Love your work too- i made two dolls last year from your book. So much fun. You’re tremendously talented and I love your blog!!
Cute! Have you tried craft foam or the stiffened felt? It’s more paperlike.
Aw that is so sweet. I can’t wait for my little one to be a bit older so we can do this kind of girl stuff together =)
Oh this is a perfect idea for wee hands. I may have to do this with the grands.
thanks Sarah 🙂 good luck with the stockings! I’m making a little bear for one of Phoebe’s dolls. So fun to make toys for the toys!
I am in love with your daughters hair color and curls!
