Check out what I woke up to this morning… Oscar sitting under the
Christmas quilt I finished last night. He was flipping through one of
his toy catalogs. How appropriate is that! This little boy’s dream
bubbles didn’t make it into the quilt though. I’m not a talented enough
stitcher to embroider tiny little transformers or millenium falcons.
So this is the Christmas quilt I made from the Christmas Wishes
embroideries. I’ll need to wait for a brighter day to take some better
photos but here you get the jist. I was really struggling with how to
incorporate these embroideries into a quilt. After all that
embroidering I didn’t want to spend too much time piecing so I wanted
something simple. I was thinking a traditional square patchwork of embroideries and prints but
realized the embroideries were too small and was also feeling that was
too boring. I had the embroideries all laid out in a row with printed strips
between them and wasn’t digging that and then realized what I wanted
was to piece them right together with all the little dreamers all
laying in a row. I cut the embroideries into 8″ x 8″ squares and sewed
them together to form a strip of sleeping cuties and then did one big
print on top, another 8″ of a different print on the bottom and there you
go. I quilted it with a bubble pattern and overall it was a pretty easy
quilt to put together. I can get all the measurements and details along
with the fabrics I used together in the next couple days and post it
with some better photos.
So the Christmas wishes embroidery patterns are now in the shop. 8 designs in PDF format, 4 boys (robot, sock monkey, books & train) and 4 girls (tea set, dolly, scooter & sweets) for $8. We’re
offering them as PDFs for a few reasons. One, to keep costs down, two,
so you can started on them right away and three, so you can easily
customize them. Oh, and you can resize them this way too if you want, four. The
designs will need to be traced with a transfer pencil and then ironed
onto your fabric. There are a lot of little details in each design and
this way, since you’re doing the tracing and they are not iron on
transfers, you can decide to cut out details or switch them with other
designs, the one that looks the most like your wisher with what he/she is wishing for, whatever will work best for your project.
I just bought mine!
Fleecy Monkey is next!
wow! it’s perfect! I am in awe.
And now I am going to browse the patterns in your shop.
The quilt is beautiful. I don’t think you could have chosen a better overall design. It makes a perfect showcase for your exquisite embroideries. The children must love looking at it! And I’m so impressed with how quickly you finished it. Have you been sewing in your sleep? Hugs, Louisa
That’s just gorgeous! Traditional and modern att the same time and a clever way to use a series of embroideries!
Oooh what a great layout for those embroideries.
And your boy is obsessed with the same things my boy is. ‘are you going to buy me a lightsaver’ for christmas? the daily question.
Would make cute T-shirts for Christmas night PJ’s.
i just need some guts to put my stitching together. i dont know what i am doing and i am too scared to let go and make the damn thing! you inspire me.
This came out great, I love them all together.
Got my package today, thanks!
The quilt is beautiful and I am sure he will be quite snuggly warm too.
This is absolutely gorgeous!

Yay! I’m very excited!!
you are such a phenomenal embroiderer! I aspire to be better at it some day! These designs are so charming, and your quilt is beautiful. You astound me with all that you manage to do.
Fleecy monkey is adorable too!
Hi Hillary, I love the embroideries, the quilt, the monkey, and all your other stuff! I was wondering — have you thought of making your banner into an embroidery pattern? It’s so cute!
Wonderful work and very inspiring.
How adorable!
What a lovely quilt! I don’t know where you find the time! Also, how do you keep your couch so clean? You are a better woman than I.
i LOVE the design of the long bands and them all sleeping next to each other. that is PERFECTO! and how precious…sitting there looking at those toy catalogs. i think i have just as much fun looking at those catalogs as the kids do!
How sweet; love your stitches and how you incorporated them into your quilt. Can’t wait to see the whole quilt.

A sock monkey?! I was trying to resist until that detail appeared.
The quilt is darling. I love something that’ll go together quickly.
I just bought your Christmas dreams and the candy cane fairy collection–I believe my second quilt is in order. I’ve been lurking for so long. Now that the baby is walking, I have my hands free sometimes. Thank you for sharing all your lovelies. Oh–may I share your photos and link on my blog–I’d love for my sewcraftblog group to see the next project.
I love quilts for infants & kids. When my baby was born, we had a small quilt that we put down everywhere for her to lay on, all newborns do is just lay around, & the thick quilt made a perfect “bed.”
you’ve got two beautiful children and I can tell that they’re being brought up in a place full of love. They’re so lucky to have a mum like you. A mum with good taste I might add! Love your blog!
I love both the wishes and the quilt …
Love the designs and the way you put the quilt together. How did you do the bubble quilting? Free motion or just careful straight stitching??
I like your quilt idea. Are there any sugar plums dancing in their heads?
Brilliant Hillary! I love the line up of Christmas dreamers!
