Have you seen Moonrise Kingdom yet? Not my favorite Wes Anderson movie but amazingly gorgeous and perfect nonetheless. And one of my favorite themes, camping/scouting. And did you know that Kit, Chloe and Louise‘s free pajama pattern can be easily made into a khaki scout uniform? I was pretty excited when that dawned on me. All I had to do to modify was make some shirt pockets, fold up cuffs and tie a kerchief around her neck. I was going to sew up a bunch of tiny badges and then realized I had enough oddball buttons to do the trick. Now she’s quite the accomplished khaki scout!

My Book
A captivating gang of 24 huggable, lovable creatures to sew—from classics like Margot, a topsy-turvy doll, and the button-jointed teddy bear Bjorn Bjornson, to irresistible Evelyn, a wool felt inchworm decked out in mod glasses and a kerchief, and Koji, a fiercely cute spiked softie monster. There’s something for everyone here—from kids to grown-ups and from beginning sewers to advanced dollmakers. Published by STC Craft, August, 2010.
Adorable! Great buttons! I love that they CLEARLY symbolize different scouting endeavors: sailing, entomology, etc…
She is so cute!
Love, love, love this!
I haven’t seen Moonrise Kingdom yet, is it better than The Life Aquatic?
I feel like Wes Anderson’s movies lost their sense of joy when Owen Wilson stopped co-writing them.
Love her! The movie was filmed here in Rhode Island, and we know a few of the scout extras! They used our Boy Scout camp for some scenes. It was fun to recognize various locations!
Oh my, the options are endless with this pattern. I am so inspired Hilary! Our little purpled-haired Louise is my daughter’s favorite doll but she may just need a girl scout buddy. Loved Moonlight Kingdom, especially all the period details…like them drinking Tang!
Adorable!
