I thought I blogged this and just realized I hadn’t. I came up with a plan for the sewing box.. ribbons! I never know what to do with my ribbons. They were stored in these plastic craft drawer things inside my fabric closet and I could never quite open the drawers so the only ribbons that saw any play were those right at the edge. Now they can fold out in front of me in all their splendor. When the kids are bigger I want to set this up with all my embroidery and hand sewing supplies but for now best not to keep scissors in pins in that new “foldy desk thing” that they’re obsessed with.

My Book
A captivating gang of 24 huggable, lovable creatures to sew—from classics like Margot, a topsy-turvy doll, and the button-jointed teddy bear Bjorn Bjornson, to irresistible Evelyn, a wool felt inchworm decked out in mod glasses and a kerchief, and Koji, a fiercely cute spiked softie monster. There’s something for everyone here—from kids to grown-ups and from beginning sewers to advanced dollmakers. Published by STC Craft, August, 2010.
It looks beautiful. And I hear you on keeping sharp, pointy things out of reach.
My children, too, would be enamored with the foldy desk thing. And the needles and pins, for that matter..!
Oh I’d love to sit on the floor with that sewing box and explore all the treasures 🙂
I am doing my best not to covet all of your glorious ribbons. you make good use of them, I’ve seen you do it. rock on!
looks beautiful! it’s an a grear idea for ribbon storage! the box is amazing!
It looks so pretty 🙂 I use to love rummaging through my Aunts sewing box.
That just makes me weak in the knees!
Wow that’s brilliant!
that’s a seriously gorgeous ribbon collection. i’m more covetous than i’d like to admit at the moment.
Whoa there! Have some ribbon! Hmmm… maybe I need more ribbon??
and my heart palpitates
My grandmother had one of those sewing boxes. You just took me back to her house. She had one side filled with buttons. I so wish I had it now!
Your collection of ribbon is just breathtaking!
Excellent! I’m going to empty my foldy-out sewing box on legs and do the same thing with my ribbons (and buttons).
*Sigh*
Heavenly : )
That is a perfect use! I’d just sit and stare at the ribbons all day long!
Those are so beautiful in there! The perfect way to store them, and the perfect use for the lovely box.
Just beautiful! It’s so great to have everything you need and want all in one compact location.
oh wow, how beautiful do all those ribbons look! I wouldn’t want to use any for fear of spoiling the effect!
how perfect! your ribbons look lovely tucked away in such a vintage gem. lucky you.
how wonderfull! I have just found such a one down at my grandmothers. I am first going to fix it so it looks amacing, and then I will fill it up.. but have been wondering what to put in it…but now I know. thanks!
brilliant! so pretty and practical too.
i am also attempting not to covet your ribbons.. 🙂 love the idea! so pretty.
Such a good idea. I bought one of those sewing boxes, but haven’t really found THE use for it yet. This looks like such a good idea, I think I have to copy it. Love your blog.
Oh you are a clever girl. Man, I have one of those sewing boxes lying around (bought on an impulse) and I’ve been wondering what to do with it. Now I just know it’s the right size for ribbons…I love ribbons. And trim. And stuff with pom-poms!
