Since I decided to punk out on cooking for Phoebe’s party I had just enough time to squeeze in another present.. this little Miss Raggedy Ann.
I had this idea for her hair — it’s strips of cotton quilted down to wool as a batting — stuck in my head and it was perfect for a Raggedy Ann doll. She’s a little crazy-haired but Phoebe seems pleased. Of course she’ll go after just about anything with a face on it.
I was going to go on and on about ragdolls, patterned hair, baby quilts, but I have to get up from this computer. I’ve spent the past hour checking through all my paypal orders from last month to make sure none have been missed because motherscratchin frakkin gd #^%@&$* paypal decided to start randomly dropping email notifications AGAIN. I cannot wait until there is an alternative to this piece-of-crap service.
Tomorrow I will be less cranky and go back to my goings on and on 🙂
Isn’t she sweet?! I just love her! I was a big fan of Raggedy Ann (and most other dolls) as a little girl, so this one is just perfect, even at my age of 39.
beautiful doll!
I hear google has come out with a payment system to compete with paypal… you should check it out!
Oh your Raggedy Ann is adorable! That Phoebe is one lucky girl!
hillary! i have been having troubles with paypal notifications too, and i thought it was something on our end + could not get it figured out.
matt has been researching google checkout. because, yeah. paypal SUCKS the big on in more ways than one.
if we decide to make the switch, i’ll letcha know how it goes.
on a happy note! the new dolly sure is cute.
Hi Hillary, check out Revolution Money Exchange (RME) and see if that might work for you. I read about it on another blog but unfortunately can’t remember which one.
I love the little dolly, and the hair is very clever 🙂
Wow! Love that fabric hair. A great addition to the Raggedy fam. :>
LOL…too funny! and i absolutely ADORE your raggedy ann. she was my main peep growing up and i TOTALLY love your take on it!!!!!!!
I always log new orders in my book from the Paypal page (so that I can easily see the amount after the fee was deducted). So an occasional lost email is annoying, but not a huge deal that way.
But I’m sure you have a lot more payments to keep track of than I do!
The only real problem I’ve had with Paypal over the years is the terrible customer service I have to deal with those times something does go wrong. It is impossible to get them to read your message and not just assume they know what you are asking! (but that happens a lot of places)
This made my afternoon, she is so cute.
I LOVE not having to rely on Paypal e-mails anymore to keep track of orders. Time for Zen Cart (it even does an absolutely awesome job of managing downloadable patterns) 😉
OH MY GOODNESS! Gorgeousness. And weirdness. I posted about my take on working on a raggedy anne doll on loobylu last night — and how I kept making prototypes which look like the Make-Long-Story dolls! Mine is still in the works. Yours is MOST lovely.
Love the funkiness of the doll.
Huh! that hair is just too gorgeous! And my Abby wants to come and live at your place so you can make her dolls! 🙂 Happy birthday Phoebe!
Such an adorable Raggedy Ann!
OMG, I’ve been having the same frustration with PayPal. I even tried switching over to Google checkout, and that’s not really a viable option – they only have a “buy now” button for a single item purchase, which is not a good option for those who sell more than one product. In order to get an “add to cart” option, you have to purchase a separate “cart” program, which is pretty expensive. So, @&%(#% PayPal it is, until someone comes up with a viable alternative.
Darling doll! No shame in punking out on cooking. Crafting should trump cooking any day!
I love her crazy hair but I specially love the “pants” detail.
Hope you have the paypal problem solved by now.
RME is great and you don’t have to pay fees. plus each person who signs up gets 25$ free (which they will probably spend in your store) and if you refer them you get 10$ for each person up to 500$
I like it much better then paypal
I say it every time, I love your dolls the best. You have such a talent with the clothes, and hair, and faces, and everything! So cute.
Love the crazy hair raggedy ann – so innovative and fresh looking
She looks so sweet. 🙂
I was also going to tell you about Revolution Money Exchange, but it looks like a few others have already mentioned it. I don’t have any first-hand experience with it. I just know that they don’t charge the fees that Paypal does and it might be worth a try. Good luck!
I feel like we’re somehow on the same page! I was just looking at a raggedy ann doll I had bought my daughter the other day and saying ‘I bet I could make something similar that would look so cool’. And here I pop over to your blog and see you’ve done exactly that! I love the way she turned out. And the hair is totally rockin!
I adore crazy haired dolls and yours is one of the best!
I have to say {eventhough I loved Raggedy Ann} your version is quite better. I am not digging the ol’ clown face as much as I used to…. Your Miss is way cuter.
My daughter is turning 2 soon and I am getting her a doll and stroller & such. She is just getting into dolls as she could have cared less before. I hope to get her some softies too, wish I could sew them though! I just love to see what you & others come up with.
We would love to see more photos from Phoebe’s birthday!
gorgeous! and i love crazy hair on dolls! fantastic 🙂
I love it! What a cheerful-looking girl!
I couldn’t agree more about Paypal! It’s totally obnoxious for sellers – although convenient for buyers.
Your doll is super-fun though!
What a great idea for hair, crocheted fabric strips! Who’d a thunk it! Can’t wait to see the finished dolly.
