I was needing a little something something to put in a package last night so I made this little flower pincushion out of wool felt. I think it turned out cute (not this cute!) but it was fun to make something out of my felt that didn’t take so damn long! And a neat way to use some of my vintage buttons. I think I’ll make up some more to go in my vintage clothing swap packages.
Oh, and in Valentine news.. I’m so bummed. I totally missed these cute Jennifer Murphy cards. Guess I need to get on her mailing list. Did anyone get them? Want to be my valentine?
springtime on the mind…instant gratification indeed!
i would definitily be your valentine!
must have pin cushion-stop!! why is this so cute?? i want to eat it!
does anyone else see a bird or am i crazy? i thought that’s what it was before i read it, the whit circle is the eye, and but button is th pupil and the leaf is the beak, lol i’m silly
Sweet little pincushion, it really does look delicious.
Cutie wutie pin cushion! For real! I’ll be your valentine, but I am a tardy, tardy valentine. =)
No, ma’am, your flower is cuter than the pear–at least to me. 🙂
Forgive the beginner question: what did you stuff it with?
PS I’ve been reading for several weeks now & admiring your many creations… plus I’ve been wondering if the little bookstore at our (Seattle) Uwajimaya will have Japanese craft/sewing books. Perhaps I will even go there for lunch. I need a break, after all…
Even though it’s not a competition, I agree with Daphne. I’m kinda partial to your little flower.
my mom thinks it looks like a bird too. but she’s a birder so everything looks like a bird to her! I’ve moved the leaf over so it’s more flower like.
just polyfill stuffing in there. I should get some sand to put in the center for sharpening, but really I think this gal is more on the form than functional end of the spectrum.
Oh. My. Gosh. That is so cute! Where do you get those cute pins? I think I need some.
oh good! because this one is headed to you Colleen 🙂
pins are Clover I think. of course!
Yipeeee!! Thank you, I’m so excited!
super cute!!! when you over stitch like that, have you tacked the felt down or glued it or just over-stitching is enough? it lays so flat–fused? agh. i don’t need another craft!!! vile temptress! *grin*
also, please tell me those pins are not vintage b/c I MUST have some.
loooove your blog and crafts!
That’s too cute! 🙂
Where did you find your pins? Pretty please? I’m obsessed with them…but have never seen any like that.
I think the pins can be found in most sewing stores. Or here: http://www.createforless.com/products/productDetail.asp?ProductID=50263
thanks Laura for the link to the Clover pins!
and Sarah, all I did to keep it together was the stitching with the floss, seems to be enough
